From the power of martial arts to the speed of track and field, the 2026 Asian Games will pulsate with athleticism and culture. Join competitors from across Asia in the heart of Japan for an exhilarating journey of competition and camaraderie.
The 2026 Asian Games, also known as the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, is scheduled to take place between September 19 and October 4, 2026 in Japan’s Aichi Prefecture and its capital city of Nagoya. It will feature 41 sports, with 45 National Olympic Committees from across Asia competing.
For the first time in Asian Games history, cricket and mixed martial arts will be featured at the next edition of the Games. The organisers have decided to add these two events after receiving a request from the Olympic Council of Asia. In order to accommodate the athletes in the new events, the organising committee has chosen to use a luxury cruise ship docked at Nagoya Port as a ‘floating Athletes’ Village’.
Esports will also be featured at the Aichi-Nagoya games, with 11 titles to be confirmed during the 93rd OCA executive board meeting in Harbin, China. The Games will include Arena of Valor (AOV) Asian Games Version, Dota 2 and Dream Three Kingdoms 2, among others. Esports made its debut at the Hangzhou Asian Games in 2023 as a medal event, while it was featured as a demonstration sport at Jakarta 2018.
In addition to the ‘floating’ Athletes’ Village, shuttle buses will be provided between competition venues and public transport stations in order to reduce private car usage around the venues. The organisers have also prepared measures to deal with possible travel demand management, such as public announcements to curb private car use around the Games’ venues.
