World Series Highlights

The World Series is the annual postseason play-off series between the champions of the American League (AL) and National League (NL), which constitute Major League Baseball. The series was first contested in 1908, when the Boston Americans won their first Fall Classic, and since then has seen numerous milestones, including the expansion of the franchises to include Toronto and Montreal as well as the introduction of a pitch clock and the decision to have home-field advantage decided by the winner of the All-Star Game.

It’s Bombs Away In The Bronx

New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge began the night with his third home run of the World Series, this one off Los Angeles Dodgers starter Jack Flaherty, a 403-foot blast into the right-field seats at Yankee Stadium to give the Yankees a 5-0 lead. But the embattled slugger wasn’t done, and his 105-mph, 385-foot shot off Ryan Brasier created more cushion on a night when Yankees manager Aaron Boone would love to keep his top relievers out of the game.

But the Yankees were forced to bring in left-hander Richard Cortes for a left-on-left matchup with Shohei Ohtani, and when Cortes got the ball over the right field wall for a fly out to deep center field to end the 10th inning, it seemed like it was going to be a long night for the Dodgers. Then, the way they’ve been this season, the Dodgers staged a startling comeback in the eighth against two Yankee relief pitchers to push across two runs and take their first lead of the game.
