There’s no denying the World Series is one of the most exciting events in sports. From Willie Mays catching what couldn’t be caught to Don Larsen throwing a perfect game, the World Series is full of great moments. It’s also home to a number of heartbreaking ones, such as Bill Mazeroski’s ninth inning home run in Game 7 to win the 1960 World Series for the Pittsburgh Pirates over the New York Yankees.
This year’s World Series is no exception with its many dramatic leads and nail-biting turns of fate. With games played in both Los Angeles and New York City, the series has captivated audiences from coast to coast. The tense, back-and-forth affair is poised to deliver another thrilling conclusion on Wednesday in Game 7. FOX Sports’ Joe Davis and John Smoltz are on the call with live in-game analysis from Dodger Stadium.
LOS ANGELES — The Dodgers took command of Game 4 in the first inning, as Teoscar Hernandez crushed a go-ahead two-run double off Yankees rookie starter Luis Gil and Alex Verdugo followed with an RBI single that went just over the outstretched glove of second baseman Gavin Lux. The Dodgers’ bullpen was strong after that, with Blake Treinen and Daniel Hudson pitching clean innings while holding the Yankees to just a pair of hits.
The Yankees took a lead in the fifth on a fielder’s choice by Aaron Judge, but it was short-lived. Kike Hernandez’s single off Tommy Kahnle started a five-run inning that gave the Dodgers the lead and set up their eighth-inning comeback.
