Getting the Most Out of the US Open Schedule

Getting the most out of your US Open experience starts with understanding the schedule before you buy tickets. Individual tickets go on sale Friday, May 30th at 9AM ET via the official Ticketmaster site and reseller sites (StubHub). Amex cardholders will have access to a limited inventory of seats in Ashe and Armstrong stadiums on Thursday for free through Monday.

The tournament itself runs from Aug. 23 to Sept. 7, with the finals at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, New York City. This year’s tournament features four show courts (Arthur Ashe Stadium, Louis Armstrong Stadium, Court 17, and the Grandstand), 13 field courts, and 5 practice courts.

Matches are scheduled for both day and night sessions. US Open officials try to spread the wealth and be fair to players by scheduling a mix of top stars, home hopes, and wildcards in both session types. That said, some of the biggest matches are usually scheduled for night sessions.

For those who are looking to save time and avoid lines, purchasing a US Open ticket with reserved courtside seating is an excellent idea. You can purchase a courtside seat through the official US Open app or on Ticketmaster, which has an easy mobile ticketing system and allows you to skip the box office line. You can also find out if your tickets are in the first few rows of Ashe or Armstrong Stadium by checking the daily Schedule of Play on/around Thursday (usually released late afternoon/early evening).
